Germanies Online Casinos Net 3.3 Billion Euros in 2005

According to latest figures, Gamblers in Germany had spent more than three billion euros in the year 2005. The statistics showed that the gaming in online casinos had increased more than thirty five percent in Germany alone. In contrast, the neighboring countries of Germany, Switzerland and Austria differ in gambling spending. Switzerland has spent 0.3 billion Euros while Austria has spent 1.3 billion euros in online gambling.

The figures came from the research study made by Gold Media consulting firm. The study was done to show the performance of online gambling industry, sports betting and lotteries in Germany, Austria and Switzerland.

If the study is viewed on a per capita basis, the Austrians are more keen on gambling and they spend one hundred seventy seven euros compared to Germans forty euros. Switzerland per capita spending is thirty six euros at online gambling sites during last year.

Interestingly, the difference between the spending at online gambling sites of the online gamblers depends on the different gambling policies observed on these three countries.

Online casinos are unlawful in all three countries but in Austria, people can participate in sports betting and state providers are allowed by the government to offer online gambling at online casinos while Switzerland and Germany consider it illegal.
